Town of Woodstock
Selectmen’s Meeting
August 10, 2010
Selectmen: Gil Rand, Joel Bourassa & Jim Fadden
Staff: Sandy Dovholuk
Guests: Mike Donahue, Patrick Griffin, Terry Whipple & Tonya
Gil called the meeting to order at 6:30pm
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
Mike Donahue asked what the town was going to do with the “owner unknown” properties in town. He stated there were seven properties with no value and the town could be losing potential tax revenue. Jim Fadden suggested the town look into those properties to see if they can be turned over to the Town of Woodstock or be auctioned off.
Mike Donahue wanted to state his concern with the solid waste facility. He stated he had been to Lincoln four times and no one has returned his calls so he has come to the Woodstock meeting knowing that Jim is a co-administrator for the facility. There is concern about the brush and the amount being accepted at the facility and when it is determined to be enough. Jim stated that a policy for accepting brush at the Lincoln & Woodstock Solid Waste Facility is in the process and a draft was given to Mike. After much discussion it was decided that Mike Donahue, along with Gil Rand, representative for the selectmen, will form a committee to study the feasibility of Woodstock having their own facility in the future.
Terry Whipple came to the board with concerns about his neighboring abutted property. He has seen drilling trucks, blasting trucks, and rock removal trucks in the area and is concerned that if there were any blasting on the neighboring property that it could be potentially dangerous to his home. There is a lot of ledge next to his house and he is concerned that this is the area of potential blasting. Terry also mentioned concern about his boundary markers. It appears some of the markers have been removed and does not know why. Jim suggested he have his own survey done by a licensed surveyor so he would know exactly where his boundaries are, that is the only way to know for sure.
